Attention Money Makers:

Here's the deal...

You invest in copies of The African American Student's Guide to Excellence in College at our wholesale rates (up to 55% off!). I ship books and promotional materials to you, free of charge. You then sell the books directly to students on your campus or at other area colleges. You set your own price to control your profit margins (we recommend anywhere from $10 per book to the full retail of $14 per book).

Selling 50 books @ $10/book will net you $150 profit. Selling 50 books @ $12/book will net you $250. By selling 50 books @ $14/book, you will end up with $350 in profits!

A student organization can host an academic excellence workshop and sell 50 books in one sitting! Or you can set up shop in the dining hall or Student Union (especially during the first few weeks of the semester), or simply sell books throughout the year by word of mouth. This is a perfect opportunity for a student organization, or for a self-motivated student wanting to earn some side cash.

Why does this work? As much as I try, I can't reach everyone at at every school. Additionally, not everyone knows about this website, and even if they do, there's no guarantee that they'll take the initiative to order the book online. Doing it this way enables the book to get to more students on more campuses through direct connections. Students will buy from you 1) Because they probably know you, 2) because you are probably saving them money since they won't have to pay full price + tax at the bookstore, 3) because you are making it easily available to them (some bookstores don't even have the book on the shelf - but it can be ordered if you inquire at the sales desk), 4) because they can get the book immediately, instead of having to wait on it to arrive in the mail. I win and you win... and most importantly, students who buy and read the book also win. So not only are we raising funds, but we're raising the academic level on campus, which is what the Excellence Movement is all about!
