History

Ase's roots can be traced back to the campus of the University of Pennsylvania, where several undergraduates, and a handful of grad students and community members held a weekly discussion series called "Black Thought."

Recognizing the need to play an influential role in the education and development of our youth, the idea of tutoring or establishing some sort of school was discussed and researched by members of our founding development team, beginning in 1999.

Ideas were exchanged, people came together, and a commitment was made to not let our words and dreams fall by the wayside. Instead, we collectively said, "ASE! Let it be so!" Through that determination, we are here.

The 2008-09 school session marks the tenth year of our program. Ase!
