Summer in the City: Get Involved.

Summer is a time to get away from school and spend time in the sunshine. For some, their days will be filled with camps and trips to see family members locally or around the country. Others may have a summer job, or want to pick up a new hobby.

Whatever you do this summer, be sure to do two things -- Try to do something that will make you a better person (read some books, learn something new, spend quality time with your family, etc), and take advantage of all of the activities that the city has to offer. In some cases, you can do both things at the same time.

Philadelphia has a wide range of summer programs and events, occuring on the weekends and through the week. Chances are, there's something that you will find interesting and exciting. Here are just a few examples. Check out the City Paper, Philadelphia Weekly, local newspapers like the Westside Weekly, church announcements, and flyers around your neighborhoods for more events.
