What Will You Be Called or Referred To If You Don’t Look Like Them?

by Sharla Glenn-Clark

When you have a different personality, belief, or are a different color you will get judged by cruel people even though they don’t know you. Whenever you are judged it hurts your feelings but it brings this question to your mind, “Why do they say things about me if they have never talked to me before and don’t know who I am?” I have heard many different problems that were caused by rude comments made by people on the streets. I would think that since slavery was over and Dr. Martin Luther King explained to people that everybody was equal we would be able to get along. I really don’t understand why we are divided into these specific types of cultures or these different types of humans. When you are split up because of such things, you start to hurt and get angry because it’s like you can only go so far in life. This problem takes very precious moments away from you because the time that you spent talking about or fighting with one another you could be laughing and joking with each other. I have heard of different races like white people being called “crackers” and blacks being called “niggas” and “hoodrats”. It hurts me to hear my culture being called those names because I usually hear this coming out of other races mouth’s. I bet that all of these “name-calling” people have never been with somebody of a different race and just use things that we didn’t exactly accomplish and define us with that. If you can tell me the answer to this question “Why are you defined by your race?” listen to yourself and tell me how stupid that reason sounds. Hopefully more people will stop and think of the answer to that question and also see how stupid that it is. Maybe one day we will wake up and everyone will be excepted for who they are because people won’t look on the outside of you but talk to you and learn about the inside.

Before You Decide to Have Sex...

by Allegra Teague

You may THINK you are ready, but are you? Some kids can’t tell the difference. Your body is sending you some confusing signals and your heart and your mind just don’t know what to do .Take my advice -- you and your partner have to think about what you want to do before you have sex. You may want to have sex because you see other people doing it or you always hear about people doing it, but you can't let other people tell you what's right for you. Do what your mind tells you to do before you do anything.

Stopping AIDS Now

by Shawnee Coleman

I am writing this article to try to stop AIDS from going around. AIDS is a problem because it’s spreading around the world at a high level. It is important to know about it so that you can try to avoid getting it. If you are gay, straight, a drug user or not, you can get AIDS. There are five different common ways to get AIDS. We women and men may look at each other and think they fine, but you just don't know whether someone has it or not by looking at them. Millions of people die from AIDS in the world. We need to just stop looking at people and saying “oh he’s sexy,” and we shouldn’t just go out and have sex. Having sex with a lot of partners is not a good thing. Lots of teens have been on the Maury show always wanting to have sex and dressing like hoochies. This will not help solve the problem.
